Dad's Sweaters

These are the sweaters that are left to pick from.  We accidentally brought them home so if you let me know which you want, I will get it to you.  The sweaters aren't dirty, my camera lens is.  Also, Tara asked me to say that she didn't do her hair today, and she usually looks much better than this.  I think she looks fine.

When you pick a sweater, please let me know which number and color so I get it right.  We're going to do this first called first served.  Just respond to this post.

Sweater 1 - Maroon squares

Sweater 2 - Red (Heidi's)

Sweater 3 - Blue with white stripe

Sweater 4 - Blue zip up (Courtney's)

Sweater 5 - Blue V-neck (Matt's)

Sweater 6 - Not a sweater suit coat that Tara calls sweet.

Food Storage etc.

All my life the church has recommended that we have a 2 year supply of everything we use.  I have never heard of a change.  Imagine my surprise when Heidi said no we only need a 3 month supply and a few long term things.  The church website now says:

Three-Month Supply

food storage
Build a small supply of food that is part of your normal, daily diet. One way to do this is to purchase a few extra items each week to build a one-week supply of food. Then you can gradually increase your supply until it is sufficient for three months. These items should be rotated regularly to avoid spoilage.

Drinking Water

water
Store drinking water for circumstances in which the water supply may be polluted or disrupted.
If water comes directly from a good, pretreated source, then no additional purification is needed; otherwise, pretreat water before use. Store water in sturdy, leak-proof, breakage-resistant containers. Consider using plastic bottles commonly used for juices and soda.
Keep water containers away from heat sources and direct sunlight.

Financial Reserve

Establish a financial reserve by saving a little money each week and gradually increasing it to a reasonable amount. Learn more.

Longer-Term Food Supply

food supply
For longer-term needs, and where permitted, gradually build a supply of food that will last a long time and that you can use to stay alive, such as wheat, white rice, and beans.
These items can last 30 years or more when properly packaged and stored in a cool, dry place. A portion of these items may be rotated in your three-month supply.
That will be much easier to accomplish.  Kristi and I believe that should have warranted an announcement to the church.  So now you know.

April and Dan Visit

We had a nice visit from April and Dan.  They came to the Academy for Dan to have eye surgery--PRK.
We got to know them better. Dan was downright talkative, especially while he was on Pain Meds.   We had a lot of discussions and went to dinner with them.  They had lots of eating places they wanted to visit that they don't have in Nebraska at least where they live, and  they had several friends here they visited with.
David and Trish came over for dinner the first Saturday so we got to visit with them.   All in all it was a very good time for us and we are grateful they were able to come.

Cheerleading in front of Duncan's house.

We went to the one time for a cheerleading demonstration.

Matt and Amanda's New House

This is the living room window.  It's quite big.
The garage and the sunroom is next to that then the house.  It's all commected .Below is the forest back of their yard between the grassed area and the river.

.
The basement .  There is one room with walls.  The rest does have the tiles all over. Below downstairs fireplace.
 Kitchen from the dining room

The upstairs fireplace.

A bedroom.  There are three bedrooms upstairs and one down.  One bedroom upstairs will be an office.  We forgot to take a picture of the front.  Maybe Matt can get one when he goes to it again.  .

Christmas lights

We went to see some lights one night.  They have a "tacky lights parade"  where you can see all the really lit houses.  We just went to a few.  They had 4 houses just down their street.  They were amazing.

Still in Virginia - Gingerbread houses.

We made houses one afternoon  and made a very cute village.

They were all beautiful and looked good enough to eat.

We were also there for Gingerbread houses.

Birthday Men

Some good-looking men in the family have birthdays happening!  Jason's, the best looking man (this is Heidi, if you haven't figured it out), celebrates the day of his birth today with yet another turtle pie.  Be jealous.
Jordan, who does give Jason a run for his money with regard to looks, celebrates tomorrow.  Don't know what he'll be eating.  You'll have to ask him.
Happy birthday, boys!!!!!
