Heidi's Friends

Cori Cosby comes to mind when I think of childhood friends.  She, Holly and I would spend the night at each other's homes.  I remember she liked butter.  A lot.  It was disgusting how much she would put on her pancakes.  Makes me gag a little now just thinking about it.  That's about all I remember.  I could dig in my journals and find some things we did, but it was probably just "tonight we spent the night at Cori's house and watched Wiz Kid" or something like that.  Nothing very exciting.  One would think that growing up in the same town my entire childhood, I would have one really good friend that I did everything with and I'm still in touch with.  Problem was, we lived in a military town and my friends were the transient ones.  I did have a few good friends, but they never stayed for more than a year or two.  Holly and Matt were/are my best friends.

Next think--I am thankful for Friends. Tell about one childhood friend and what are some things you did together?

My best childhood friend was Jackee Buckley.  We did everything together.  I especially remember going over to her house every Sunday night to watch Bonanza and eat barbequed potato chips with a kippered snacks and cottage cheese did.  I loved that.  We didn't have a TV then yet and I never really got to eat potato chips.

Lemons--Good info.

HEALTH: LEMON PEEL
A long read but worth reading... check it out...
DON'T WASTE THAT LEMON PEEL!
Good info. on using the whole lemon vs. only the juice...Lemon productions became more and more abundant around the world because of its nutritious contents. Lemons are used in many different ways in lemon industries and factories, but not among households.
How do you eat or taste lemon in your house?
Probably, you do not know how to apply lemon the right away.
Do you just squish a few drips to your whisky, vegetable salad, bread, ice cream, roasted meat, cake, baked chicken, fruit drinks, or to your other favorable dishes?
If so, what a waste!
Here, I'll tell you the real use of lemon!
I'm sure you know how nutritious a lemon is. But you may only know how to use it as a simple seasoning, as most people do, and not as a side dish. You think that only the squished juice from lemon is used, while the lemon peel is thrown away. Yes, you think that you only need that sour, citrus taste of the lemon's juice, is that right?
However, we found out that many professionals in restaurants and eateries are using or consuming the entire lemon and nothing is wasted.

How can you use the whole lemon without waste?
Simple...place the lemon in the freezer section of your refrigerator. Once the lemon is frozen, get your grater, and shred the whole lemon (no need to peel it) and sprinkle it on top of your foods. Sprinkle it to your whisky, wine, vegetable salad, ice cream, vegetable soup, chicken soup, curry soup, noodles, spaghetti sauce, rice, sushi, meat loaf, sausage, fish dishes, etc.It doesn't matter whether it's a Chinese dish, Italian dish, French dish, African, Indian, Japanese, Korean, or Latin American dishes, you just name it.
All of these foods will unexpectedly have wonderful taste, something that you may have never tasted before in your life. You don't believe me? Just try it and you will agree with me. Everything will certainly taste great!
Most likely, you only think of
lemon juice and vitamin C. Not anymore. Now that you've learned this lemon secret, you can use lemon even in instant cup noodles.
What's the major advantage of using the whole lemon other than preventing waste and adding new taste to your dishes?
Well, you see lemon peels contain as much as 5 to 10 times more vitamins than the lemon juice itself. And yes, that's what you've been wasting. But from now on, by following this simple procedure of freezing the whole lemon, then grating it on top of your dishes, you can consume all of those nutrients and get even healthier.
The lemon peel is good in making you slim if you are a fat person, or makes you healthy fat if you are skinny.
It is very good that the
PYRO-ENERGEN is also for the taste of all people. It's also good that lemon peels are health rejuvenators ineradicating toxic elements in the body. SO place your lemon in your freezer, and then grate it on your meal every day. It is a key to make your foods tastier and you get to live healthier and longer! That's the lemon secret!Better late than NEVER!
The surprising benefits of lemon!Institute of Health Sciences, 819 N. L.L.C. Charles Street Baltimore, MD 1201.This is the latest in medicine, effective for cancer!Lemon (Citrus) is a miraculous product to kill cancer cells. It is 10,000 times stronger than chemotherapy. Why do we not know about that?Because there are laboratories interested in making a synthetic version that will bring them huge profits. You can now help a friend in need by letting him/her know that lemon juice is beneficial in preventing the disease. Its taste is pleasant and it does not produce the horrific effects of chemotherapy. How many people will die while this closely guarded secret is kept, so as not to jeopardize the beneficial multimillionaires large corporations? As you know, the lemon tree is known for its varieties of lemons and limes. You can eat the fruit in different ways: you can eat the pulp, juice, prepare drinks, sorbets, pastries, etc... It is credited with many virtues, but the most interesting is the effect it produces on cysts and tumors. This plant is a proven remedy against cancers of all types. Some say it is very useful in all variants of cancer. It is considered also as an anti microbial spectrum against bacterial infections and fungi, effective against internal parasites and worms, it regulates blood pressure which is too high and an antidepressant, combats stress and nervous disorders.
The source of this information is fascinating: it comes from one of the largest drug manufacturers in the world, says that after more than 20 laboratory tests since 1970, the extracts revealed that:
It destroys the malignant cells in 12 cancers, including colon, breast, prostate, lung and pancreas ...The compounds of this tree showed 10,000 times better than the product Adriamycin, a drug normally used chemotherapeutic in the world, slowing the growth of cancer cells. And what is even more astonishing: this type of therapy with lemon extract only destroys malignant cancer cells and it does not affect healthy cells.Institute of Health Sciences,819 N. Lori's Birthday Memory

I recall a few birthdays that were memorable, but the most memorable birthday was my 14th.  Mom took me to Sizzler for steak and langostino (which made me sick but I didn't care 'cause it was SOOOO good!), and then we went shopping for a store bought dress.  It was so exciting that I still remember that dress well - light blue A-line with spaghetti straps and a white jacket belted with a light blue belt.  I felt like a princess!

Another memorable birthday was my 16th.  My first "real" date was with Doug Edwards.  He was one of the "popular kids" and on the football team so I wanted it to go really well.  Just as he, his friend Pat, and Pat's date were finishing singing Happy Birthday and I was getting ready to blow out the candles, 2-year-old Matthew came tearing down the stairs stark naked screaming, "I did it!  I did it in the toilet!".  Nice.

And lastly, my most depressing birthday was my 30th. There were 3 kids asleep upstairs, a pathophysiology test the next day, husband deployed to Cuba and at midnight I realized that no one had called me except Mom & Dad and I had received a card from Aunt Julie earlier in the week.  I was watching "Speechless" and bawling my eyes out.  Poor me!  (I crack myself up!)

Thanks to Heidi and Holly for a Birthday Post--Let's see some more

I don't have any birthdays that come even close to Heidi's, but as soon as I read this question the first birthday that came to mind was my 16th.  Heidi and I had a party in the backyard with our friends (girls AND boys) and we played badminton and had a really good time.  I think it was the Greenburgs who sent a man over who was kind of a clown and he made us wear hats made out of coffee filters.  It was also memorable because we invited Josh Jones, and he thought that we had called to invite his little brother because he thought we were a lot younger than he was.  He came, and we became pretty good friends.
Another birthday that I remember all too well is the last one I had in the mission field.  I went to get the mail, and the only thing in it that day was a package from Mom--with my prescription in it.  Not even a letter.  That was the year that the stupid post office decided that since my name wasn't on the mailbox, they wouldn't deliver any packages to me and they all got sent back.  I did get two balloon bouquets from Lori that night, though, and it saved the awful day!  A few days later I got my package from Amy with a really good cake mix and everything to make it.  That was pretty fun, too!

Kenyan Birthday

Without even having to think about it, the best birthday of my life happened to be over 8000 miles from home when I was on safari in Kenya. We went in August/September of 2005 with a group from Jason's medical school. The first seven days was spent as a medical mission--44 people in our group including doctors, nurses, medical students and one other spouse treated over 2000 people with various problems from goiters to worms to AIDS. I saw some gross stuff. But the people were wonderful and we had an amazing time. The last three days of the trip (my birthday being one of them!) we were on safari, enjoying great food (crocodile and camel meat excluded) and beautiful scenery at the David Livingstone Safari Resort in the Savannah. If I look terrified to have my back to the rhinos, it's because I really was. In fact, I didn't even want to get out of the jeep. The last picture shows me with my cake that I got from our waiter at the resort. That birthday will be difficult, if not impossible, to top!!

New statement--Let's see if anyone really wants a Lauritzen blog.

I am grateful I came to earth.  Describe one of your birthdays.

Lot's of fun birthdays.  I loved the birthdays when my girls baked a cake.  Family birthdays are the best.
My family means everything to me.  I am grateful for each one.

From Lori

Hi all!

I've moved [once again], but this time into a sober living home in Kerrville.  It's not my dream home but it's definitely a step up from where I have been living.  It's called The Blue Lotus House.  The new address is:
     929 Pecan St.
     Kerrville, TX  78028

Thank you all for your support and prayers as I continue to battle this disease.  For today...all is well!
Love,
Red heartLori/Mom/Gramma

HAPPY BIRTHDAY
