Heidi's Thoughts

Dad seemed to focus on the love part of this book. The things that stood out for me were more simple. I guess I'm not anywhere near Dad's level yet. The way he showed of studying the scriptures, looking for parallels between prophet's lives and Christ's, was great! I had never seen any of that before. Also the way he broke down the sacrament prayers made them make so much more sense to me. It will help me in my own study to be able to recognize those things now.
In response to the surprise post we got from Kristi (that was great to hear from you!!) and what Dad has been saying, what if everyone started thinking of the word "love" as a verb rather than a noun? To love someone is to want to find ways of serving them. To love the temple is to do our best to get there as often as possible and put ourselves completely into the work. We're actively doing something when we love, so it is an action. Just a thought.

That is exactly what I meant! Love is a verb. Consider this: Plants love sunshine. That is not to say plants feel a deep affection for the sun, rather they need the sun for their growth and development and even their very lives! Turn a potted plant away from a sunny window and within a few hours the stems will bend in whatever direction they need bend in order to face the direction the sun is shining. And so should we "love" the things that are holy whenever anyone moves them in any direction away from us we should bend and stretch in whatever direction we need bend in order to face back to the straight and narrow path of God. Back to the things that are holy. The end, amen
