Heidi's Moment.
My most embarrassing moment was junior year of high school. We were doing the exceptionally classy show, "Little Shop of Horrors", and I got to play the part of a doo-op girl. We were on the stage for most of th show which meant costume changes were very fast. I had to set up my costumes just right before each performance so that they would be ready to throw on. The first night I ran backstage, changed into the little black dress costume, ran back on stage and realized that the dress was on backwards. This made the effect of making the dress look VERY low-cut in the front. Luckily I was wearing a beige colored bra, so no one (in the audience, anyway) seemed to notice. In fact, the only comment I got was from this creepy guy who had a crush on me who said "Your dress was way lower cut than anyone else's".
I have a more embarrassing story involving water ride at Six Flags in Dallas when Holly and I went with Lori, but I'm not going to share that one. It's not pretty. Holly and Lori will remember, maybe even Tere.

Holly's First Memories and Moment
My earliest memories are like Heidi's. I remember the West Jordan house, even though we were only 2 1/2 when we moved. I remember the shag carpets, the red couch downstairs, the raspberries, and the plum tree. I also remember putting on a sheet and standing on top of the TV with Heidi and holding a little yellow flashlight when we were angels in the Christmas pageant. I have a vague memory of pulling up to the house on Rusty Hinge for the first time. I think it was night time and there was a light on somewhere in the house.
I certainly have a most embarrassing moment. When I was in the Colorado Springs String Orchestra (I was in 7th or 8th grade) I frequently didn't listen when the conductor was talking. One day I heard everyone start clapping, so I asked my neighbor what the conductor had said. She told me that that at our next concert we were allowed to wear red and green (it was near Christmas). I was thrilled with the idea, as I hated wearing the white blouse and black skirt. That day I wore my green pants (yes, I had green pants), a red shirt, and a white sweater. Before we left, Mom said, "Are you sure you're allowed to wear that?" I told her that I was sure, so she trusted me and took me to the concert at a local high school. As soon as I walked in I was horrified. Everyone was wearing the normal black and white. Apparently the announcement was that we could wear red and green ACCESSORIES on top of our black and white. We were too far from home for me to go change, so I went and talked to the director. She said she would just hide me in the back. Well, she didn't. I sat right in the middle of the whole orchestra. I felt sick that entire day as a result, and I missed my class field trip to go see "Dances with Wolves" because I was at that concert. It was a terrible day. I have other stories, but this is the worst.

So Many to Catch Up On..
There are a lot of posts. We had a super busy day yesterday and didn't get home until very late. I didn't even look at this blog. So here I am getting caught up on it. So don't miss anything!
Ju Jitsu
Well this weekend was Dave's first ever Ju Jitsu Tournament. He entered the Novice, Executive Medium Heavyweight Division and took second place!!! He did awesome. I must admit I was totally nervous about this whole thing but it was such a rush to watch him and so exciting when he won!!!!! He got down to a lean mean 189 lbs for the tournament. Looking pretty good. Here are some pictures!!!
Dad's First Memories
My earliest memory is from when we lived in Grangeville, Idaho. I was about three years old. My father worked in a grocery store (to augment his teacher's salary) and I remember deciding to go visit him. I left home alone and walked the few blocks to where he worked (without telling my mother that I was going, which panicked her as I later discovered). There was a big old-fashioned wooden barrel in the front of the store and it was full of candy corn. I was truly impressed. Especially when my dad allowed me to have a few kernels.
Another Grangeville memory is of being sick -- probably just a bad cold or the flu. I was lying on a sofa in our living room. It had long wooden legs so there was a large visible space under the seat. Kind of like the old Danish modern couch that Grandma Lauritzen had in her living room. Anyway, I was sort of asleep and rolled over with my arm hanging down. I became convinced that a bear grabbed my arm. For years afterward, I was unable to let my arm hang over the side of the bed.
And finally, again in Grangeville, we had a very close neighbor, Mr. J. T. Lingo, I believe, who was also our landlord. This very kindly old gentleman used to smoke whitefish in his fireplace. I remember several times getting a sample from him of that whitefish and thinking it was very good. This from someone who now cares nothing for most fish.
I have often thought that it is very strange what memories survive from our childhood. I'm grateful for them.
Grandpa L.

Amy's First Memories
I have a lot of early memories. Not as early as Mindy's but I have an advantage. My earliest memories were in California and we left there when I was five, so at least I know they didn't happen after that. I remember twirling around in the backyard and cutting my head open, then going in the back door to the family room and Mom laying me on the yellow and green couch and putting an ice pack on my head. I remember stealing all the Flintstones vitamins-I had to stand on the counter to get to them-and getting caught when they all fell out of my pocket on the swingset and the little boy I was playing with (can't remember who) running and telling his mom I had candy. I definitely remember the frog Jeny and I killed in the tire swing. I can't remember which one of us it was but I think it was Jeny. She used to pinch my fingers in the door a lot and one day Mom got mad at her and pinched her fingers in the door so she would know what it felt like. I remember Lori vacuuming out the fireplace in Newark. I know, that's a weird one-we must have a movie of it somewhere. I remember going to the ocean once, I think Debbie Davis was with us. did she live in CA? By the way, never pee in salt water. OWWWWW. There's a reason I remember that trip!

Nickell's First Memories
There are a few things I remember from way back when, but like most everyone else I am not sure the order of how they actually occurred or even how old I was when then did. I remember visiting my mom at work. My dad did our hair and I remember being so embarrassed. I don't remember what it looked like. Kudos to dad for trying though. That had to have been when we lived in the Layton house because Jordan was there and decided to throw a fit when he wasn't allowed to have the peanut m&ms. He then proceed to smash his own head against a glass table. What a tard. It was really scary when I was little though. My dad held him as we drove to the hospital. He was wearing a white shirt and blood was everywhere. Traumatic experiences are usually pretty easy to remember. I also remember Kelsey falling in the bath tub and splitting her chin open. My siblings were always full of stitches. Never me. I remember every detail of breaking my arm... the second time. I was at my friends house and there was a babysitter. We were playing on the swingset in the backyard. I was going across the monkey bars and thought that I could skip 5. I was wrong. I fell, my friend walked me home, and my mom got mad at me. She then got a VHS tape for me to hold my arm on so that it was supported while we went to get a cast. One of the times I broke my arm, (I can't remember which one) I had a really bad itch on my hand under my cast. I tried and tried to scratch it and couldn't so I was willing to scratch it with anything. I stuck a penny down there. It got stuck. When my cast was removed, my skin had started growing around the penny. My skin underneath the penny was green and it smelled SO BAD!
Another memory I have is when I burned my hand really bad. I was helping my mom cook something on the stove, I was little. I was standing on a stool so I could reach. The stool slipped from under me, my hand went out so I could catch myself. Not only did I catch myself, but in the process I pushed whatever pan was on the stove top out of the way and my hand went directly onto the burner. I just remember my hand being BLACK. I don't know if it actually was black or if I just associate the color with how badly it hurt.
There was a bleach stain on our carpet by the basement door in our house in Layton. I remember that house very vividly.
There's a lot about that house that I remember. Most of my childhood memories are in that house.
I remember visiting my dad at work when he worked at Silo, I don't remember where we lived when he worked there but I remember visiting him there. Mom where did we live?
I have pretty vague memories of when Jordan was born.
Most of my memory disappeared when I was prego. I used to remember a ton! Now not so much.

Jeny's First Memories
Memories?? What's that?
I think I'm too old to remember.
But some of my favorite young memories are of sleeping outside in the summertime and playing truth or dare - although it was usually dare. Run around the whole backyard naked?? Who thought of that? (My guess is Amy).

Mindy's First Memory
My earliest memory is vague, but I remember when I was potty training, and Grandma (Breckenridge?) sent me some pretty flowered panties and a silver dollar. I don't know how old I was, but I was small enough that my little fingers barely fit around that silver dollar. It covered almost my whole hand. Funny that my first memory would be about money, eh?
Teresa's First Memories
This one is hard, because I have some old memories but I don't know how old I was. So here is what I'm going to do: Im going to post some memories and maybe my mom can give a timeline of when they occured. The problem is, I dont remember in great detail, so they're kind of vague and you're going to have to guess mom :)
The first one that pops into my head is from Spain. I remember walking down the street with a really tall and really old guy. I knew he was my famly, but I didn't know him very well and I only knew a little of what he was saying. My dad and grandpa were walking in front of me. Thats all I remember of that time.
The next that comes to mind is shortly after we moved to the house by Lake Nasworthy. I was playing in the living room and mom started hitting the wall and floor in the hall alot. When I went into the hallway, there were a million (it seemed like) black widows coming out of the vent in the hall.
Of course flooding the apartment.
Getting a doll when april was born and thinking "I want to play with the real one".
One that I think I was the youngest for though I dont remember where it was. I cant remember those details. I was watching muppet babies, but I dont know if it was in english or spanish (i want to say spanish). I wasn't wearing pants and i was sitting in a wooden chair that was my size. I remember singing with the tv (and kind of bouncing up and down in the chair a little) and then the chair pinched me. I was more mad than hurt. Thats all I remember.
So those ones are the ones in the running for earliest memory. Now its up to you mom to put them in order :)
Heidi's First Memories
Whoa, this is a hard one! I don't have any idea what order these memories happened, so I guess I'll share them all. I remember the house in West Jordan where I was born. Holly and I slept in separate cribs and I can still picture where they were in the room. I know there was a long hallway with lots of doors. I cried one night when I heard sirens. They scared me pretty bad. I remember asking Kathy Jorgensen where my mom was when she was babysitting once. I also remember collecting toiletpaper from the trees after we got TP'd and walking through the stream that was in one of our neighbor's yards. I think I stepped on a pinecone in the stream and cut my foot, too. Anyway, those are my earliest memories, you decide which came first.

Teresa's Chores
I dont mind doing housework, but I don't like when that's all Im doing. I have come to realize that I like housework more when I'm working outside of the home. Dusting, bathrooms and tidying/organizing are probably my "favorite" ones. The ones I despise though are dishes and laundry. When the family gets bigger, there is always something in the sink and the hamper. Ugh, I just don't like doing them. But like everyone else, I enjoy life more when my house is clean.

Nickell's Chores
I personally love cleaning. When I was in jr. high/high school I would often stay up really late after everyone was asleep (so no one could mess it up) and deep clean. I think that's probably my favorite. Deep cleaning. I don't enjoy housework that gets my hands wet, dishes, tubs, etc. I know its a weird thing and people tell me to wear gloves and it doesn't help. I still feel like my hands are getting wet. But vacuuming, sweeping, dusting, scrubbing baseboards with a toothbrush, (or my magical sonic scrubber) mopping, yard work (which is most definitely a chore Mindy) and I love love love cleaning stuff out. I.e. the refrigerator, pantry, closets, etc. My favorite isle at the grocery store is the cleaning stuff. Mmmmm I love it!
