Problem
A problem has arisen in the all to easy (until now) reunion plans. We have discovered some problems with school for little kids. There are families that won't be out until the end of June. What Tere and I had been talking about was a four day three night kind of deal. Would there be kids that will be able to do a Thursday through Sunday type of deal in mid-June? What are some thoughts? We need ideas. We're kind of stuck and need some help since neither of the two planners have children in school...

Matt's last day of school that year will be the 4th of June, so we should be good.
Just a reminder... reservations on the weekends are more expensive and people who have to travel will have to take time out of two weeks to get up there and back, so it might be easier and cheaper to do it in the middle of the week?
Dang, I was thinking weekend because it would be less weekdays to get off of school work, etc.
I looked at my children's school calender. Their last day of school next year is June 18. We get out really late next year. I don't know when my last day of school will be. It will be around that time. It could be a week after the kids get out.
As far as when to have it. I suggest middle of the week because we will have to take at least a week out to come and I don't think we will be the only ones. The middle of the week is cheaper as Theresa pointed out.
i was just thinking we could use the weekends to travel and only take a week off, where if we do it on thursday, we'll have to take monday afternoon-wednesday to travel and then monday-wednesday to travel back (7 1/2 days for keith to take off) and if we do it where we can overlap it so we can travel over 2 weekends we only have to take 5 1/2 days off
Maybe we should poll on it because alot of you arent traveling that far and the cost might not be that big of a difference. Keith gets 14 days off a year, so whatever's decided, we can do :)
As of right now we are out May 18th but we might be moving before then and I don't know what school will be like where we move. But if it's the last week or 2 of school I would be willing to take them out for a week. All they do is waste time the last two weeks anyway.
Lets just plan on the middle of the week. I forgot that other people will have to travel farther to get there than we will and that is a long drive for those families. So lets do middle of the week. like Tuesday-Friday??
That sounds good to me. We're getting closer :)
Are you remembering that this place is in the mountains of Idaho? I'd recommend waiting until July for the reunion. We're out of school early June and back in early August, so whatever time you choose will work for us.
We did a poll for what month would work the best for people and June won. That's why we are talking June.
Mindy makes a good point-- especially for those who are going to be in tents. Middle of June will be freezing, possible snowy in the Idaho mountains. Even the first of July will still be cool at night. We are out of school around the first of June so whatever, whenever, doesn't matter to us.
If people could go in July that is when we would plan it.
I'm okay with July. We might be in Texas so I will enjoy having a reason to escape the heat!
We really want the girls to go, and for them to go we have to try for June, also Uncle Jason P probably can go only in June. It's better when its cold, you can always bring more blankets :)
Derek and Keith had a tent slumber party last night and it was dow in the 20's, we're a hardy stock :) We can try our best to do it late June, but our best bet to get everyone there is in June and I dont mind being cold if I can see everyone :)
And apparently most of us will be cosy in the bunkhouse!
Actually, I voted for August because that's the only time for sure Jason could come. The 4th year residents leave at the end of may and new residents don't come in until July, so it's VERY difficult for Jason to get off in June (in fact they told all the residents not to even bother asking for time off). I'll be coming without him. Amy, if you're in Texas, how am I going to follow you out???
oh okay i got that WAY wrong! sorry
